While there is never a response issue with the remote, the front panel buttons can sometimes be annoyingly slow.
Inside, the Oppo is very well put together for such an OPPO DV-981HD DVD Player component. The power supply does have the expected small transformer, and not all that much power supply capacitance, but the quality of the boards is high, and electrolytic capacitors are used throughout.
The power supply board is separate from one other L-shaped board housing both the video and audio circuitry. This is another sacrifice to keep the cost down.

There are a lot of DVD players on the market and no good way to decide which is the right one. I have been looking for OPPO DV-981HD DVD Player good up-convert for awhile now, unfortunately my search goes on.

The reviews for the DVHD, have been almost all positive, and the reason i picked it up. It works fairly well, but its not without flaw.
The menu and interactive system is a choppy. The player has a slow boot time, a disc OPPO DV-981HD DVD Player and tray lag. The inexpensive interconnects that come packaged with the DVHD will not allow it to come close to strutting its sonic stuff. I know, I know -- reading the owner's manual flies in the face of all we he-man audiophiles stand for.
But doing so will be time well spent.
